Compared to our American and British friends, the Australian libertarian movement is in its infancy.
We have no research centre along the lines of the Ludwig von Mises Institute. Those of us who adhere to the full range of libertarian views must resort to publishing in journals such as Quadrant, Policy and IPA Review. While these are libertarian-leaning, they are more "pragmatic" than they are ideologically focused. There is little analysis of the radical free-market thinking of the Austrian school. There's a time and place for pragmatism, but there's also a need for radicalism. Until there is an organization that publishes radical libertarian material, it will be very difficult to build an identity distinct from the conservative movement. This website and accompanying organizational structure is an attempt to promote radical ideas that have been neglected for too long. With your support, we can sponsor conferences, funding for students, and a real libertarian movement. |

As much as I like the Liberal-Democrats here in Australia, their 30/30 income tax policy is very disappointing.
I think a better transition strategy to eliminate income tax is to: 1) Elimination of minimum wage laws 2) Elimination of laws the penalise business seeking workers outside of a union These two actions would significantly open both the higher and lower order jobs market (especially the lower order jobs) in Australia, which is the free market safety net. |
